Mustard TV: Norwich TV service in online 'soft-launch'

The station started initial broadcasts with an internet only service

Mustard TV, a new local television service for Norfolk, has started broadcasting on the internet.

The initial online service will offer viewers news, sport, entertainment and property information for Norwich.

The city centre-based service, led by publisher Archant, will start broadcasting on Freeview channel 8 in the autumn.

The station will create up to 14 jobs and provide an "unrivalled" broadcast news service, its operator has said.

Fiona Ryder, Mustard's managing director, said the internet "soft-launch" will feature "local news, weather and sports clips, along with entertainment shorts and property mini-features.

"Full length programmes will be produced later in the year.

"Over the next few months, Mustard Online will add new channels and content features as it approaches the on-air date for digital terrestrial TV.

Details of the channel's plan were revealed when it was awarded a 12-year licence by Ofcom, the government's regulator for the UK communications industries, last September.

It is one of 19 local TV stations awarded licences by the government.
