Ian Church murder: Two brothers, their sister and two friends guilty

Four men and a woman have been found guilty of murder over the death of man attacked outside a pub in Norfolk.

Ian Church, 40, had been drinking with a group of friends when he was set upon outside the Bricklayers Arms in Great Yarmouth in the early hours of 5 May.

He suffered head injuries and died in hospital two days later.

The five accused, aged in their 20s and 30s and including two brothers and their sister, were convicted of murder at Norwich Crown Court.

Brothers Tony Smith, 30, of Sidney Close, Great Yarmouth, and Roy Smith, 32, of Ranelagh Road in Sheerness in Kent, and their sister Kelly Taylor, 34, of Harris Road, also in Sheerness, all denied murder.

With them out drinking on the night of the attack were their friends Todd Esherwood, 25, of Saxon Road, and 30-year-old Stuart Layden, of South Quay, both in Great Yarmouth, who also denied murder.

All five were remanded in custody to be sentenced on Friday.
