Second dead minke whale washes up on Norfolk beach

It measured 6m (19ft) long and has now been removed from the beach

Tests will be carried out on it by experts from the Natural History Museum

A second minke whale has washed up on a beach in Norfolk, days after a first was discovered.

The 6m (19ft) whale was found on Sea Palling beach, on Norfolk's eastern coast, at about 09:30 GMT.

A spokesman for North Norfolk District Council said the whale, which was found by the coastguard, was "thought to have been dead when it was washed up".

On Friday, a decomposing 7.6m (25ft) minke whale was found further up the coast at Cromer.

The council spokesman said the second whale, which had a hole in its jaw and abrasions on its flipper and body, had been removed.

He added that the authority had contacted the Natural History Museum, who were "due to carry out tests on it".
