Giant jigsaw completed as missing pieces are added

A jigsaw puzzle believed to be the largest on the market has been completed after four missing pieces were re-cut and delivered from Spain.

Graham Andrew recruited 200 jigsaw fans to complete the 33,600-piece wildlife puzzle to raise money for charity.

The feat was almost scuppered by the missing parts, which he said may have "got stuck on a granny's cardigan".

The laminated puzzle will be cut into ten sections to be displayed on the walls of Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Adrian Chesterman, who painted the wildlife picture and now lives in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol, contacted Mr Andrew and said he would come to Norwich in January to meet him and see the mounted jigsaw.

Mr Andrew and volunteers from across Norfolk spent about two weeks piecing together the 5.7m (18.7ft) by 1.57m (5ft) picture.

The pieces arrived on from Barcelona Thursday.

"We had to cut through the jigsaw puzzle which damaged a lot of the pieces which then had to be carefully repaired. We finished at 00.30 the following morning, some 13 hours later," Mr Andrew said.

Mr Andrew is continuing to raise funds for the hospital children's wards and Reepham nursery by asking people to sponsor puzzle pieces.

The jigsaw will also be taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
