North Walsham hit-and-run pair appears in court

A driver accused of hitting a group of pedestrians and throwing one man into the air was encouraged to do so by his passenger, a court has heard.

The incident took place at 00:55 BST on 23 July in North Walsham in Norfolk and left a man, 30, with a broken pelvis.

Darren Blackmore, 43, formerly of Cantley Lane, Norwich, was charged with offences including driving dangerously and wounding with intent.

He appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court via a video link.

His passenger Sammi Horner, 35, also appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court, charged with encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable-only offence.

Ms Horner, of Market Place, North Walsham, was bailed to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 22 December.

Mr Blackmore, who was also charged with attempting to wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, will reappear in front of Norwich magistrates via a video link on 8 December.
