North Walsham hit-and-run driver admits hitting group

A driver has pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent after hitting a group of pedestrians, causing one man to be thrown into the air.

Darren Blackmore, 43, of Cantley Lane, Norwich, will be sentenced for the offence after his passenger Sammi Horner, 35, stands trial in April 2017.

Ms Horner denied encouraging Mr Blackmore to drive into the group.

The incident took place early on 23 July in North Walsham in Norfolk and left a man, 30, with a broken pelvis.

Mr Blackmore did not enter pleas for two charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and one of dangerous driving.

The judge ordered the offences to remain on file.

Ms Horner, 35, of Market Place, North Walsham, pleaded not guilty to encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable-only offence.

Her trial will be held on 19 April at Norwich Crown Court.
