Police said they were called to reports of an "altercation" near Norwich's railway station

A teenage girl has been arrested after two men were stabbed near Norwich railway station.

Officers were called to Thorpe Road at 15:20 GMT to reports of an "altercation" at the train station.

Police said two men had suffered knife wounds and had been taken the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Their condition was described as "stable".

The girl, from the Norwich area, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is being questioned by police.

Det Insp Chris Burgess, of Norfolk Police, said: "We are still in the early stages of our investigation and our inquiries remain ongoing to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"There has been an increased police presence in the area and will be for some time as our investigation continues."

Forensic teams arrived at the scene at about 17:00 GMT and began photographing belongings strewn on the ground outside Pizzo Oro, where the incident took place.

A worker with OneAgency, based nearby, said: "We noticed the sirens and looked out of the window and realised something horrible had happened. The ambulance came and the police, and the area was cordoned off."

Another worker nearby, who did not want to be named, said that a "colleague saw a few people arguing" before police and ambulance were called.
