A woman who was stabbed to death was a devoted mother of three, her family has said.

Gemma Cowey, 38, who was also known as Gemma Marjoram, was discovered on the old hospital site at Thorpe St Andrew, near Norwich on Friday.

A man in his 40s from Norwich was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

In a statement, her family said: "We are beyond heartbroken. We have no more words."

She was the oldest of three sisters and had three children, Kacie, Callum and Abigail.

Norfolk Police said they were called to a derelict building at the old hospital site on Yarmouth Road at 12:45 BST following reports a woman had been found with serious injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination established she died as a result of stab wounds.

Det Insp Lewis Craske said: "Officers have established that Gemma and the suspect were known to each other and whilst we do believe this is an isolated incident, our investigations are ongoing to identify the exact circumstances leading up to her death."

He said he was keen to hear from anyone who was in the area between 11:00 and 13:00 BST.
