Norwich house fire: Man arrested after elderly woman dies

A man has been arrested after an elderly woman died in a house fire in Norwich.

Norfolk Constabulary, external said officers were called to an address in Unthank Road at 07:00 GMT to assist Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, external.

The force said "an elderly woman" was found inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, who is in his late teens, has been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Officers are investigating the circumstances leading up to the fire and its cause. A cordon remains in place around the property.

The woman's death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Following initial enquiries officers believe the arrested man and the victim are known to one another

Unthank Road was temporarily closed, but has since been reopened.
