Great Yarmouth stabbing: Man in court charged with murder
- Published
The family of a man who was fatally stabbed in a seaside town said he was a "well-loved" member of the community.
Felizardo Jose Viera-Balde, 23, was attacked in St Peter's Road in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, on 8 February and died later in nearby Wellington Road.
Junior Suleimane, 21, of Market Place in the town, was arrested on Friday and charged with murder.
He has appeared at Norwich Crown Court via video link and was remanded in custody. He is yet to enter a plea.
Mr Suleimane, who is also charged with possessing a knife in a public place, is due to appear again at the same court on 27 March.
A second man, Jaimes Santos, 43, has been charged with assisting an offender.
He has also been remanded in custody to appear at the same court.
In a statement issued via Norfolk Police, Mr Viera-Balde's family said: "Felizardo was a son, brother, nephew, and uncle. There are no words to describe our heartbreak losing him in the way we have.
"The trauma we are suffering has been compounded by the insensitive sharing of footage showing the incident and we respectfully ask that this stops so we can grieve and try coming to terms with our loss.
"Felizardo was just a child and should not have been taken from us so young."
They added: "We know Felizardo was well loved in the community and realise there is upset and some anger at what has happened, but we urge others to allow the police and courts to see justice is served in the proper way.
"No other family should go through the devastation that we, as a family, are enduring."
A 21-year-old man arrested in Loddon, in Norfolk, on Saturday was questioned by detectives and released on bail until 11 May.
A post-mortem examination established Mr Viera-Balde died from a single stab wound to the chest.
