Loddon: Man fatally injured near pub was 'selfless'

A family has paid tribute to a "happy and selfless" man who was found outside a pub in Norfolk with fatal injuries.

Neil McGibbon, 58, was treated in Bridge Street, Loddon, close to the King's Head pub, on Friday evening. He died three days later in hospital.

Five men aged in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and were released on bail.

Mr McGibbon's family said: "We are heartbroken by his loss."

The tribute from Mr McGibbon's family continued: "Neil was a beloved son, brother, husband, father and friend.

"He was a proud Scotsman and Celtic fan who played a hugely influential role in his son's life; who shared his father's love of football and golf.

"He had an extraordinarily large circle of friends and family in England, Scotland and overseas, and was universally loved by all.

"Neil was a kind, happy, and selfless man, who always did everything he could to help others and lived his life to the fullest."

Norfolk Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward

The five suspects aged in their 20s were arrested on the Friday night and a sixth man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of assault on Sunday. All six are on bail until February.

"Should anyone possess any information that may assist the police in their investigation, we urge them to come forward,"the family added.
