Man charged over serious assault in Great Yarmouth

A man has been charged over an assault near a seafront that has left a man in a critical condition in hospital.

Emergency services were called to Regent Road in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, at 12:07 GMT on Friday, where a man in his 50s was found seriously injured.

Norfolk Police said a man from the town was due at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Tuesday accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A second man arrested has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

In an update on Christmas Day, police said the injured person remained in a critical condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Cordons in Malakoff Close, Ordnance Road and Russell Road have now been lifted.
