The "suspicious package" was found during works on Thamesfield Way
Reports of an unexploded device found at a business park proved to be a false alarm, police said.
Norfolk Constabulary said it received "reports of a suspicious package" at Yarmouth Business Park, Great Yarmouth, at about 13:20 GMT on Wednesday.
A bomb disposal team arrived at 19:00 and "declared it was not ordnance and not explosive", a spokeswoman said.
A cordon had been in place after the suspected explosive was found during works in Thamesfield Way.
