Norwich City Football Club to bring in safe standing at Carrow Road
- Published
Norwich City Football Club has announced safe standing will be implemented at its home ground for next season.
The Lower Barclay, Thorpe Corner and a section of Carrow Road's away supporter area will be revamped over summer.
Safe standing areas provide a space for supporters to stand up for the duration of a match.
The club's executive director, Zoe Webber, said the decision came after "very engaging" consultation with fans.
The project will be carried out by Ferco, which has installed similar facilities at Celtic's home ground and at QPR's Loftus Road.
Norwich City said season ticket holders who wished to move their seat elsewhere in the ground following the announcement should contact the Championship club.
"Safe standing is something we've been keen to implement at Carrow Road for some time, but it was important that we properly consulted our wider fanbase and the relevant safety authorities," Ms Webber said.
"We also understand that safe standing may not be for everyone and we'll do our utmost to accommodate supporters in other areas of the ground should they wish."
Jon Darch, of Ferco, said he was "delighted" Canaries fans could cheer the team on while standing in areas licensed for the purpose.
