Royal and Derngate Theatre 'provides £20m to economy'

  • Published

A theatre contributes about £20m a year to the local economy in Northampton, a new report has found.

The Arts Council economic impact study has identified and assessed the amount people spend when they visit the Royal and Derngate Theatre.

The theatre generates £10 for every £1 invested, the report said.

The study also found that over three-quarters of the Royal and Derngate's income is earned, rather than coming from subsidies and grants.
