Northampton town centre revamp set to begin

A £350m scheme to transform the centre of Northampton is set to begin.
The work, funded by Northampton Borough Council, will start on Monday with improvements and repairs to the Grosvenor Centre car park.
The council said the area has a 1970s design and has not been subject to any significant work since it was built.
The Grosvenor Centre revamp will take up to seven years and include up to 60 new shops. The council said it is part of a plan to revitalise the town.
Richard Church, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "Although a lot of progress has been made behind the scenes this is the first major project people will be able to see happening."
The Grosvenor car park will stay open while the improvement work takes place, however some floors will be closed to the public.
Work will stop on 19 November, for Christmas shopping, and restart on 10 January.
