Children's mental health findings in Northamptonshire

The findings of a two-year project to promote children's mental health at Northamptonshire schools are to be presented by the county council.

It said more than 100 schools were to attend a conference about Targeted Mental Health in Schools (TaMHS).

The scheme aimed to improve the emotional wellbeing of five to 13-year-olds at 13 pilot schools, and boost attendance and attainment.

Tuesday's event will show schools what they can do to help, the council said.

The Northamptonshire project was one of a number across the UK, and between 2008 and 2010 focussed on Weavers School in Wellingborough and William Parker School in Daventry.

Five schools close to Weavers and six near William Parker were also involved.

It worked with children aged five to 13 who were at risk of or were experiencing mental health problems, and their families.
