Drinking glasses said to have come from Hitler's Berlin bunker are to be auctioned in Northamptonshire.

The drinking glasses which are expected to fetch up to £8,000, are to go under the hammer at a sale of militaria in Towcester on 21 June.

The glassware is detailed with a spread-winged eagle, swastika and initials A.H.

The pieces have been sent to JP Humbert Auctioneers from the United States especially for the sale.

Auctioneer Jonathan Humbert said they were "excited" to be selling the items, adding: "Whilst there is no written provenance, the fact that the same vendor owned Hitler's sword means that there is every chance that Adolf Hitler himself sipped from these very vessels."

Mr Humbert added they had sold many items from the Hitler era but were always mindful of people's feelings.

"We have to be tasteful in all we do and would not wish to upset anyone with the items," he said.
