Northampton shoemaking heritage area proposal
- Published
A conservation area has been proposed by Northampton councillors to protect the town's shoe and bootmaking heritage.
It would cover the north and east of the town centre that has a particularly high concentration of boot and shoe factories and associated buildings.
The area includes the Lower Mounts up to the Racecourse, Abington Square and down as far as the Billing Road.
The council's plans are supported by English Heritage.
