Work on a new £37m link road in Northamptonshire could begin in June if the scheme is given the final go-ahead by the county council next week.
The A43 Corby Link Road scheme would see the construction of four miles (6.5km) of dual carriageway between the A6003 and the Stanion roundabout.
Planning permission has already been granted for the project and compulsory purchase orders are in place.
It is expected the road will take 18 months to complete.
Northamptonshire County Council cabinet member for infrastructure and public protection, Andre Gonzalez De Savage, said: "The A43 Corby Link Road is a major highway scheme that has been developed over many years by the county council and remains a high priority with the aim of improving transport links between Corby and the A14."
The final plans of the scheme are due to be discussed by the council's cabinet next week.
The government is set to provide £21m for the scheme and the county council will fund the remainder.
