Corby Cube gets extra £500,000 funding

An additional £500,000 has been approved to be spent on work to complete Northamptonshire's Corby Cube.

The funding means the cost of the civic building, which houses a theatre and library, was approved by Corby Borough Council on Tuesday.

The building opened in 2010, but has had numerous problems and is now more than £12m over its £35m budget.

Norman Stronach, acting chief executive of the council, described the additional cost as "disappointing".

The cash will be spent on work including ventilation systems and fittings.
