Corby Village Express Hotel death treated as suspicious

The death of a man in a hotel room is being treated as suspicious, Northamptonshire Police have said.

David Ross, 39, also known as Les, was found dead at the Village Express Hotel in The Jamb, Corby, on Monday afternoon. He had suffered a head injury.

The Jamb was closed during investigations but has since reopened.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information about Mr Ross's death to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone who witnessed any assaults in Corby town centre and Old Village areas in the early hours of Monday.

'Absolutely super guy'

A post-mortem examination is due to be held on Tuesday.

Mr Ross was a partner in a new Corby nightclub, Lounge 66 and Rubix, which opened earlier this month.

Dan Pickard, Corby town centre manager, said he had worked with Mr Ross and his business partner Jon Cowell for about eight months, during the club's leasing and opening process.

"Les was an absolutely super guy. He was passionate about Corby and he loved what he did," he said.

"It was his dream to open a club here and he achieved it two weeks ago."

He said Mr Ross had run a security business, providing door supervisors to pubs and clubs.

"He was a very well-known character in and around Corby," he said.

"He was well-respected and will be sadly missed. He was a nice, genuine, hard-working gentleman."
