Fatboy Slim DJs at House of Commons

Fatboy Slim has become the first DJ to "play" at the Houses of Parliament.

Yet the DJ, real name Norman Cook, was merely the warm-up act.

From playing to 250,000 people on Brighton Beach in 2002, Cook played second fiddle to Bryce Moore, an engineering student from Corby, Northamptonshire.

Mr Moore, aka Bryce Fury, was the winner of a national competition to play at the terrace bar at the House of Commons.

Speaking before the event on Wednesday - called House the House - 22-year-old Mr Moore said: "It's a bit daunting to meet someone who is a living legend.

"This is a massive opportunity for me, to meet so many important people.

"I wouldn't be complaining if I ended up DJ-ing full time," said Mr Moore, who is studying electrical engineering at Northumbria University,

Fatboy Slim has previously played at Bondi Beach in Sydney, the Great Wall of China and in an igloo.

The Brighton-based musician said: "I've played some exciting and unique places around the world but playing in the House of Commons might be the most unique to date."

Stephen Mosley, the Conservative MP for Chester, who was at the gig, tweeted a picture of Cook in action on the decks.

The night was hosted by Mike Weatherley, Tory MP for Hove and Portslade, in aid of the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation which encourages young people to get involved in their communities.

He said: "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life and House the House are great examples of what the whole music industry can achieve in an innovative way."
