Plans to sell council land to developers to help fund 100 new local authority homes in Northampton have been backed.
Northampton Borough Council hopes to sell the 134-acre Dallington Grange site to property developers.
Dallington Grange and a larger portion of land neighbouring the site have been earmarked for thousands of homes in the local plan.
The plans were backed by the council's cabinet on Wednesday night.
Money from the sale will allow the council to build homes on part of the site.
David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for us to build a significant number of council houses in a very cost effective way.
"It is part of a new era for social housing in Northampton, as we move towards an arm's length management organisation that will give our tenants more say over the investments that need to be made in their homes and their future."
