Northamptonshire Police misconduct case attendees in 'room stay' pledge

People wanting to attend a police misconduct hearing are having to pledge not to leave the room while the case is ongoing.

Northamptonshire Police is holding its first ever public misconduct hearing in a case involving two officers.

The move follows a Home Office directive, external earlier this year that such cases should be held in public.

Northamptonshire Police says the 12 conditions have been set to "ensure" as "little disruption as possible".

Observers at the Northamptonshire hearing have had to pledge not to "leave the room or enter the room until there is a break in proceedings", not to use social media while evidence is presented and to remain silent at all times.
