M1 Northampton: Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle

The M1 has been closed in both directions between junction 16 and 15A in Northampton

A pedestrian walking on the M1 has died after being struck by a vehicle, police have said.

Northamptonshire Police said it received reports at about 05:10 BST that a person had been hit on the road near Northampton.

The southbound carriageway of the motorway remains closed between junctions 16 and 15A.

Highways England said the section of road was "likely to be closed for most of the day".

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the pedestrian or witnessed the incident.
