A large stone dog statue stolen from a driveway has been returned to its owners after an appeal.

The cast-stone sculpture, weighing about 70kg (11 stone) was carried off from a home in Lanercost Walk. Northampton, on 23 October.

A phone call last Friday from a person saying they knew where it was led the police to the statue.

The police said the owners were "thrilled" to get it back and that the theft was still being investigated.
