Comedian and television presenter Alan Carr will appear in his hometown panto as a magic mirror.

Carr, who grew up in Northampton, has been signed to play the mirror in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the town's Royal and Derngate.

His video appearance will raise money for Neuroblastoma UK, a cancer charity for which he is a patron.

He will be performing alongside Strictly Come Dancing's Ore Oduba and Wendi Peters from Coronation Street.

His appearance in pantomime has been welcomed by Bob Golding, who plays the dame. He said: "By all accounts he was a joy to work with."

"We treat it like he's live on stage so there's lots of banter with him - it's going to be really good."

The presenter, actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba takes the role of Prince Charming, while Wendi Peters from Coronation Street appears as the Wicked Queen.

The show also features a community ensemble drawn from Royal and Derngate's Youth Theatre and Young Company, external.

Carr recently lifted the lid on his Northampton childhood in the ITVX sitcom Changing Ends. His father, Graham, was the manager of Northampton Town Football Club.

ITV said the sitcom attracted more viewers than any other comedy on ITVX in 2023 and another series had been commissioned.
