Flooding has taken over the carriageway following heavy rain
A main road into Northampton has been closed due to flooding, with motorists urged to find alternative routes.
The A4500 Weedon Road is inaccessible eastbound, from junction 16 of the M1, west of Northampton, into the town centre.
The closure is due to flooding midway on the route, at the Kislingbury roundabout for Sandy Lane.
Northamptonshire Police said people should take extra care and be aware of potential flooding after heavy rain.

The floodwater has been going to the boundary of people's properties
