The A43 was shut for 90 minutes after three hounds died in a collision

Police have appealed for witnesses after several hounds were involved in a collision on a main road.

No people were hurt but at least three dogs have died after a collision involving a number of vehicles on the A43 near Hannington, Northamptonshire, on 19 February, police said.

A police spokeswoman said officers thought the dogs could belong to a hunt.

Police said the single carriageway road was closed for about 90 minutes.

'Disruption'

Police officers have been trying to "establish the circumstances" behind the incident.

Police said in a statement that the road was closed so that the dogs could be "removed from the vicinity" and returned to their owners.

The road closure had caused "major traffic disruption", police said.
