A life-saving bleed kit which was installed at a snooker club by a charity has been vandalised.

The Off the Streets NN group, which places the cabinets in public places for use in emergencies, said it had been asked to remove the kit from the club in Kettering, Northamptonshire.

The group said it could not understand why anyone would target life-saving equipment.

The Windmill Snooker Club was also contacted for a response.

Jane Capps, from the charity, said the group "had permission" to install the cabinet.

It contains medical items that can be used to stop catastrophic bleeding and keep someone alive until the emergency services arrive.

Off the Streets NN said it was contacted by the owners on Monday and asked to remove the kit from the wall.

The group said it then discovered on Tuesday that the cabinet had been covered in electrical tape.

Off the Streets NN said it had now removed the tape but the cabinet had been damaged.

An urgent appeal was issued for a new location for the bleed cabinet on Tuesday and Ms Capps said Willow Shopfitting Ltd had since agreed to install it on its wall nearby in Kettering.
