Rushden Transport Museum arson destroys train carriage

The fire broke out at 18:00 BST on Wednesday
A train carriage has been left "beyond salvage" after an arson attack at a transport museum.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) was called to Rushden Transport Museum and Heritage Railway at 18:00 BST on Wednesday.
The fire was put out by 20:00 BST and no injuries were reported.
A spokesperson from Northamptonshire Police said: "It has been recorded as criminal damage - arson".
The fire service said investigators had also determined the fire was most likely started deliberately.
The fire was started in a stationary vintage train carriage on a disused line while the site was closed to the public.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "The main carriage involved in the fire has been destroyed, while the second carriage sustained severe heat damage.
"There was also fire damage to vegetation on the surrounding railway embankment."
On Facebook, the museum said, external: "Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but the carriage itself is beyond salvage."
