New units officially launched at Newark Hospital
- Published
A ceremony marking the completion of two new centres at a Nottinghamshire hospital has taken place.
The buildings at Newark Hospital were paid for with a £1m grant from a charity run by the chairman of Nottingham Forest, Nigel Doughty.
Both are named in memory of his mother, Mercia Doughty, who worked as a nurse at the hospital.
The buildings house a pre-operative assessment centre and an endoscopy unit.
The grant was made available to the trust through the League of Friends of the Newark Hospital, of which Mrs Doughty was a member.
The units aim to significantly improve patients' comfort and privacy.
