Man arrested after death of woman in Nottingham

Detectives investigating the death of a woman who was attacked in Nottingham have arrested a 26-year-old man.

The 21-year-old victim died in hospital a short time after being found injured at a property in Springfield Street, in the New Basford area, on Sunday.

She has not yet been formally identified and the area remained cordoned off on Monday with officers carrying out house-to-house inquiries.

Post-mortem examination results have not yet been released by police.

Police were called to the house in Springfield Street just after 0700 BST on Sunday, where they found the woman unconscious.

She was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where she later died.

Investigators were examining the house and another in Brooklyn Road, Bulwell.
