City council approves Broadmarsh facelift plan

Plans to redevelop the centre have been around for almost 20 years
Improvements plans to a Nottingham shopping centre have been approved by city council officials.
Proposals to change the Broadmarsh shopping centre entrance at Drury Walk were approved at a committee meeting on Wednesday.
Existing shops will be demolished and a new mezzanine level will be created.
The application is the latest phase of improvement works following the refurbishment of Listergate and Collin Street entrances to the centre.
Last April, Westfield, the owners of the shopping centre, confirmed long-standing plans to refurbish the Broadmarsh Centre had been delayed due to the recession.
No restart date was given at the time but managers said work would be delayed for "at least two years".
The city council has been planning the redevelopment of the Broadmarsh for almost two decades.
