Exhibitions to be held of Nottingham wind turbine plans
- Published
Several public exhibitions will be held on plans for three 125m (410ft) wind turbines near the River Trent in Nottingham.
The exhibitions, in Beeston and Clifton from 16 to 21 April, will include maps and an artist's impression.
Public meetings will also be held at both venues to allow residents to ask questions about the proposal.
The University of Nottingham is proposing to build the turbines on land at Grove Farm, near Clifton Bridge.
Carbon reduction
The turbines would generate enough electricity to meet a third of the electricity needs of the University Park campus, it is claimed.
University spokesman Professor Alan Dodson said: "By generating electricity through renewable methods such as wind power, we can make a major step towards our overall carbon reduction target of 34% by 2020."
It is estimated that the turbines would reduce the university's carbon emissions by 7,000 tonnes annually, equating to 40% of target reductions by 2015.
A planning application for the project is expected to be submitted in May or June.
