New children's burns unit opens in Nottingham

A new children's burns unit has opened at a Nottingham hospital.

The new facility at the Nottingham Children's Hospital, which is based at the Queen's Medical Centre, has five inpatient beds.

The beds are in specially designed rooms, which have independent temperature controls to help children with thermal injuries.

The treatment room will be named after the late Lady Evelyn Pope whose family donated money to the new unit.

Each room has a television and DVD player to help occupy the children.

Angela Horsley, clinical lead for the children's hospital, which is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "This new facility is a great environment to treat our patients in.

"It has been designed especially with them in mind. We are very proud and we hope that our patients will be, too."
