Nottingham's Robin Hood Half Marathon gets new route

About 12,000 people took part last year

The organisers of Nottingham's Robin Hood half marathon say they have changed the route to make it "flatter, faster and more scenic".

The 13-mile race, now in its 32nd year, is scheduled to take place on 30 September.

The <link> <caption>new route</caption> <url href="http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/pdf/robin_hood.pdf" platform="highweb"/> </link> starts and finishes at Victoria Embankment and will take runners along Trent Bridge and past Nottingham Castle.

Participants will also pass through the grounds of Nottingham University.

A launch event for this year's race, featuring a 4km run, has been held at Victoria Embankment.

Busy roads

Entry costs £27.75 for UKA-affiliated club runners and £29.75 for all other runners.

About 12,000 people took part in last year's half marathon.

Earlier this year it was revealed the full Robin Hood Marathon would not be going ahead because of problems with the route.

Organisers said increasingly busy roads, especially around Holme Pierrepont, meant the full marathon was no longer viable.

However, they said the decision would be reviewed in future years.
