More than 100 soldiers from the Territorial Army paraded through Nottingham to exercise their freedom of the city, for the first time.
The 73rd Engineer Regiment, which recruits mainly from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, was granted the honour by the city council in June.
The march began at St Mary's Church, in the Lace Market, and ended in the Old Market Square.
Lt Col David Jones, the commanding officer, said it was a great honour.
The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Michael Wildgust, recommended the 73rd Engineer Regiment for the honour.
The regiment has been based in the city for 40 years.
