Hughes was arrested the night before an FA Cup tie
Notts County striker Lee Hughes has been fined for assaulting a woman at a hotel in south London.
He admitted a charge of common assault over an attack at the Aerodrome Hotel in Purley Way, Croydon, on 3 December.
A second charge of sexual assault, which Hughes denied, was dropped after prosecution lawyers at Croydon Crown Court offered no evidence.
Hughes, 36, of Waterside Way, Nottingham, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £120 in prosecution costs.
He was arrested after police were called to the hotel the night before his team's FA Cup match against Sutton United.
