Nottinghamshire County Council to retain three-term school year

Nottinghamshire County Council has said it has agreed to keep a three-term year with a fixed two-week break at the end of the spring term starting in 2013.
The decision was made at a Children and Young People's Committee meeting earlier.
Almost 4,000 responses were received during a 12-week public consultation about school term and holiday dates.
Plans for schools in Nottingham city to switch to a five-term year resulted in a series of strikes.
The city council agreed to reconsider those plans after talks with a teachers' union in May.
It had said a five-term year would boost attainment but teachers viewed the change as disruptive.
The NUT said there was no evidence it would help pupils and claimed it could cause problems with county and city schools being on different systems.
