A man has been arrested after a fatal crash closed a major road in Nottinghamshire for much of the day.

The collision, between two lorries and a Ford Focus, happened on the A46 near Newark just after 08:10 BST.

The man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

The road reopened just before 16:00 BST. No more details of the victim have been released.

Police have appealed for witnesses, saying they were particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a black Vauxhall Insignia.
