Residents of a care home criticised by health inspectors have been moved to new accommodation after its owners closed it down at short notice.

Bramcote House Nursing Home in Nottinghamshire was rated "inadequate" by the Care Quality Commission in a report in January.

Nottinghamshire County Council said it was moving the 13 residents to "secure alternative care homes".

The owners of the home were not available for comment.

Caroline Baria, from Nottinghamshire County Council's adult social care and health department, said: "Following Bramcote House Nursing Home's announcement that it will be closing, we have started working with the home's 13 residents and their families to find them suitable alternative care home places that meet their needs."

The CQC report criticised the privately-operated home for its management of medicines and "poor standard of cleanliness".

"Some staff did not have adequate knowledge and skills to provide safe and appropriate care and support," the report said.
