A shed styled like the Millennium Falcon cockpit from the blockbuster movie Star Wars is set to be repaired after it was smashed by vandals.

Staff at the charity-run Stonebridge City Farm in Nottingham said they were "devastated" when it was damaged.

The shed is in the play area and is used by children who "love" it, staff said.

Shed specialists Waltons, who originally gave the shed to the farm, have offered to come and fix it.

Aaron Ketland, from Waltons, said: "Obviously we are saddened to hear about the vandalism that took place and we are looking into what we can do to help.

"All being well, we'll have the space shed back in flying order."

A finalist in the national Shed of the Year competition, the structure was damaged on Wednesday night in the second of two raids on the farm in just a few days.

A bird was found dead in an aviary following the second raid and staff believe it could have died of fright.

Someone from Waltons has been to assess the damage and to measure up for any parts needed and the work should be completed in about a week.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
