A man has admitted engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl after changing his plea on the first day of his trial.

Daniel Cooper, 20, admitted two offences from August 2016.

Nottingham Crown Court heard he was "fully aware" the girl was under the age of legal sexual consent when he committed the crime.

Cooper, of Birch Street in Church Warsop, Nottinghamshire, was bailed and is due to be sentenced on 26 January.

He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register with immediate effect.

Det Con Stuart Barson, from Nottinghamshire Police, said Cooper "took advantage of a vulnerable young girl", adding the victim "shown extreme bravery" in reporting him.
