A man has died after being stabbed at lunchtime in Nottingham city centre.

Emergency services found the injured man after they were called to Milton Street, next to the Victoria shopping centre, at about 13:15 BST.

Nottinghamshire Police said they arrested a 17-year-old boy following the attack who is being questioned on suspicion of murder.

The road remains closed between Shakespeare Street and Lower Parliament Street while officers investigate.

Det Insp Steve Wragg said: "It is a tragic incident that has sadly happened in broad daylight and in front of shoppers in the city centre.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this young man, who has sadly died."

Police added inquiries are ongoing to establish how many people may have been involved in the attack and appealed for witnesses.
