Nottingham's trial of rental e-scooters has been extended until 2026, the city council has confirmed.
The project, which involved 30 councils, was originally planned to last for 12 months, but Nottingham's has been extended every year since by the Department for Transport (DfT).
It is one of the "most popular" e-scooter trials in the country, operator Superpedestrian said.
On average, 3,500 rides are made each day on the yellow devices, it added.
Riders must be 18 or older and hold a full provisional driving licence and must not ride on pavements, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
A report, external by transport bosses at Nottingham City Council confirmed the Department for Transport (DfT) has extended the trial period.
Council documents, published ahead of a Commissioning and Procurement Executive Committee on 12 December, said: "The DfT has indicated the legalisation of all e-scooters will be forthcoming, however, delays have been experienced with securing a Bill slot to take the proposed legalisation through Parliament.
"This has resulted in the DfT extending trials for a further two years to 31 May 2026."
