A joint police and fire investigation is under way after a blaze at a former pub in Nottinghamshire.

Crews were called to The Blue Bell in Mansfield Road, Sutton-in Ashfield, at about 15:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Roads were closed and a small number of properties were evacuated as a precaution while the fire was dealt with.

Affected residents were allowed back into their homes by 19:00, Nottinghamshire Police added.

The force said while it was keeping an "open mind" as to the cause of the fire, officers urged any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
