Nottingham 10K: New city centre route announced
- Published
A new city centre route has been unveiled for the 2024 Nottingham 10K race.
With a start in Old Market Square, the new course includes going past the Motorpoint Arena, through The Park estate with the finish line being inside Nottingham Castle.
The finish will be the first sporting event to be held at the historic venue, organisers say.
The event is set to take place on Sunday 10 March.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, director of operations at Run For All, said: "We are delighted to officially unveil next year's brand-new city centre route. Starting in Old Market Square and finishing inside Nottingham Castle, the brand-new route showcases the very best of the city of Nottingham."
Nottingham's 10K is one of several around the country organised by Run For All, a not-for-profit company that was a legacy of Jane Tomlinson, who raised millions of pounds for charity after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
After the start in Old Market Square, runners will head north of the city centre, travelling along Mansfield Road before reaching Nottingham Girls' High School.
Once there, the route will take participants along Forest Road East and on to Church Rock Cemetery before travelling south back towards Nottingham city centre.
Runners will then reach the Motorpoint Arena before heading along Canal Street towards the finish line.
Looping around The Park estate, noted for its Victorian architecture, participants will then reach the finish line inside Nottingham Castle.
