Nottinghamshire Police say the man's death is not thought to be suspicious

Police have confirmed the death of a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a bus in Nottinghamshire.

The 24-year-old man was hit on the A6011, near Gamston Lock, at about 18:15 GMT on Wednesday and pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while officers investigated.

Police said the man's death was not being treated as suspicious, but that work to establish the circumstances was ongoing.

The man's family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers, Nottinghamshire Police added.

Investigator Louise Melbourne said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends during what must be an incredibly difficult time for them.

"We would like to hear from any additional witnesses who have not already made themselves known to the police and specifically anyone who may have been driving along the road around the time and may have any dashcam footage of the pedestrian prior to the collision taking place."
